Our client is growing their team to work on their first title and are looking for an experienced Senior AI Designer to join them. Their next game is a tactical RPG and they are aiming to create an unforgettable experience for the players.
Desirable skills and knowledge:
- At least 5 years of relevant work experience with a focus on AI design, particularly focused on AI behavior involving multiple agents
- Proficiency in relevant design tools and scripting languages, such as Unreal Blueprints or similar
- Relevant bachelor’s degree in computer science or game design, or equivalent experience in AI game design
- Experience working on open-world or sandbox games, with a strong grasp of non-linear AI behaviors and dynamic decision-making systems
- A strong passion for strategy games
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Knowledge of medieval military tactics and siege warfare is a plus
Role responsibilities:
- AI Behavior Design: Develop and implement complex AI behaviors that respond dynamically to in-game situations, particularly in large-scale battles and sieges
- AI Personality Systems: Create varied AI personalities that influence NPC decision-making, ensuring diverse and unpredictable battle encounters
- Cooperative Play AI: Tailor AI behavior for cooperative gameplay, ensuring AI adapts to multiplayer scenarios and provides balanced challenges
- Balancing and Scaling: Adjust AI difficulty and behavior to scale from small engagements to large field battles, maintaining challenge and variety
- Integration with Game Systems: Collaborate with AI programmers to integrate AI seamlessly with other game mechanics, such as NPC pathfinding, unit formations, and morale systems
